Bainbridge Island Museum of Art’s smARTfilm series will present the classic film “Being There” this week.
The movie stars Peter Sellers as Chance, a gardener who has lived his life within the walls of a wealthy urban estate and understands the outside world through what he has seen on TV. When his employer dies, he is abruptly cast into the reality of this world, in which words, actions and restraint have multiple meanings and broad impacts.
Frank Buxton will lead a post-film discussion.
The film will be screened in the museum’s auditorium at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 13. The BIMA Bistro will also stay open until 7 p.m. in advance of the screening for food and small bites.
Tickets are $10 and $6. For ticket purchase and more information, visit www.BIMA.org or call 206-842-4451.
The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art is at 550 Winslow Way East.
