The annual Bainbridge Island Modern Quilt Guild’s fall festival is back for its 11th year.
The outdoor show will be held Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Winslow Green.
The non-juried event is free and open to the public and will feature the artistry of quiltmakers from all over the Kitsap peninsula.
Organizers expect to hang 200+ works of textile art from scaffolding on the Green and in selected locations along Winslow Way creating an open, inviting and festive atmosphere. Last year over 1,200 visitors of all ages enjoyed the display.
The show will feature several themed categories including “bee” quilts created by members of volunteer groups who work together to create an original piece and multiple variations of a single quilt design titled “Shining Stars.”
In addition to viewing quilts, attendees will be able to purchase raffle tickets for an original work titled “On the Plus Side.” That quilt was created by members of the guild, and proceeds will help to underwrite the cost of the show. Tickets will be available for $2 each. The winner will be drawn at 4 p.m.
The nonprofit guild formed in 2013 to develop and foster modern quilting. It also offers educational opportunities through classes and workshops. Its community outreach program has provided quilts to the American Heroes project, Project Linus and Pendleton Place in Bremerton.
