Bainbridge Island celebrated a successful tribute to young people’s creativity during the 12th annual Student Art Contest at the Pavilion on Sunday, March 4. Bainbridge Island’s young residents and students ranging in age from kindergarten through High School competed for first, second and third, place awards in eight different categories. Dinah Satterwhite, the founder and manager of the Student Art Contest, reports that there were 229 entries this year, including a great selection of creative entries in the newest category: RecycleArt.

‘Once Upon a Time…’
Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra will present “Once Upon a Time” at 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday March 3-4 at Bainbridge Performing Arts. Pre-event activities begin at 2 p.m.

Ireland poet Geraldine Mills and Seattle poet Susan Rich will present an evening of poetry and global insights at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 1 at Hyla Middle School, 7861 Bucklin Hill Rd. A book signing will follow the reading. The event is free and open to the public.
