Planetarium show seeks out ‘Spooky Exoplanets’

Halloween is approaching, so to get an early start at celebrating the scariest day of the year, astronomer Dave Fong will host the planetarium show, “Spooky Exoplanets.”

During the show — scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Edwin E. Ritchie Observatory — Fong will talk about some of the most frightening exoplanets discovered so far.

If the sky is clear, astronomers will be on hand with telescopes.

The show is free to members of the Battle Point Astronomical Association; a $2 donation is suggested for nonmembers, $5 for families.

BPAstro Kids are doing Sling Shot Rockets at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 with Dr. Erica St. Clair.

The Battle Point Astronomical Association is a nonprofit amateur astronomy organization that operates the Ritchie Observatory and John H. Rudolph Planetarium in the Helix House at Battle Point Park, 11299 Arrow Point Drive NE.
