The Bainbridge Island Photo Club will present a free showing of the film “An American Master: Richard Avedon” for its June Movie Night at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 27 in Huney Hall at the Watefront Park Community Center.
Organizers say that those who love photography, this is a must-see film, and was a part of the PBS Series “American Masters.” The movie was rated 4.5 of 5 stars.
Richard Avedon was a fascinating person and a revolutionary photographer for his time, and organizers of the movie night note hehe photographed a staggering range of subject matter, and had an incredible knack for revealing character in an operatic but also subtle and acute way.
As an American fashion and portrait photographer, he was named as one of the top 10 greatest photographers in the world by “Popular Photography.”
His list of iconic portraiture is filled with notables that include President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy, President Dwight D. Eisenhower, The Beatles, Andy Warhol, Brigitte Bardot, Marilyn Monroe, Sly Stone, Whitney Houston and many more.
All are welcome to the screening, and there will be popcorn and drinks. The film has a running time of 90 minutes.
