Special concert planned at Bloedel Reserve

Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra will offer an enticing fall performance featuring a brass ensemble and flute duo in a special outdoor concert n Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Bloedel Reserve.

Music lovers will be treated to Bainbridge Island’s award-winning public garden and an intoxicating mixture of sights and sounds in this collaborative presentation.

The brass ensemble pieces will include Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man” and will feature Kevin Gilman, Chris Thomas, Paul Shepherd and Bob Kennicott (trumpet), Richard Davis and Jeff Jensen (horn), Bud Parker and Dick Heine (trombone), Jas Linford (tuba), Susan Tolley (timpani) and Art Whitson (percussion).

Lisa Hirayama and Jared LeClerc comprise the flute duo and they will perform “Mozart’s Duet No. 4 for two C flutes, op. 75” and “Johann Joachim Quantz’s Duet No. 1 for two alto flutes, op. 5.”

The BSO Brass Ensemble and Flute Duo will appear one day only on Saturday, September 14 at 4:30 p.m.;

The special performance precedes Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra’s inaugural concert of the season, “Toi Toi Toi – An Opera Showcase,” on Nov. 23-24 at Bainbridge Performing Arts.
