Student Art Contest seeks entries

Bainbridge Island students from Kindergarten through 12th grade can enter their art in the 11th annual Student Art Contest which will be held March 6 at the Pavilion, 403 Madison Ave.
Entries must be registered from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The exhibit is open from noon to 5 p.m. and the Award Ceremony is at 5 p.m.  Entries are based on the child’s grade.
A new category this year, “RecycleArt,” features art made with locally recyclable materials and items that would have wound up in the garbage (exceptions are glue and tape).
Kids can enter up to  three pieces in their grade category, plus up to three pieces in RecycleArt.
Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three winners in each category, plus a $150 award and other goodies for the “Best of Show.”  Each winner will also receive an award certificate, and every entrant will receive a merit ribbon for participating.  Honorable Mentions will be awarded in each category at the judges’ discretion.
There is a $5 entry fee per piece. Rules are available on the Arts & Humanities website at www.artshum.org
