The Dixie Chicks world tour on tap at Bainbridge cinema

Fathom Events and Columbia Records are partnering to bring “The Dixie Chicks: MMXVI World Tour” to theater audiences across the country, including here on Bainbridge, for a special one-day-only cinematic concert experience at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7 at Bainbridge Cinemas.

After a decade’s long absence, the group’s popular hits like “Wide Open Spaces,” “Goodbye Earl,” “Not Ready to Make Nice,” “Cowboy Take Me Away” and “Travelin’ Soldier” sound as fresh as ever. Relive, or experience for the first time, the sold-out reunion tour.

From Wikipedia: “[The Dixie Chicks are] composed of founding members (and sisters) Martie Erwin Maguire and Emily Erwin Robison, and lead singer Natalie Maines. The band formed in 1989 in Dallas, Texas, and was originally composed of four women performing bluegrass and country music, busking and touring the bluegrass festival circuits and small venues for six years without attracting a major label. After the departure of one bandmate, the replacement of their lead singer, and a slight change in their repertoire, Dixie Chicks soon achieved commercial success, beginning in 1998 with hit songs ‘There’s Your Trouble’ and ‘Wide Open Spaces.’”

Tickets, $12.50 for adults and $10 for seniors and children, are on sale.
