The Dusty 45s return to Lynwood’s center stage

The Dusty 45s will return to rock the Treehouse Café at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, once more pushing their rockin’, high-energy music to full throttle, keeping fans on their feet and begging for more from Lynwood’s central stage.

The group melds styles ranging from country twang to jump blues and surf to R&B, all while adding Dixieland and jazz elements. The finished product is a sizzling sound uniquely their own.

Singer/songwriter and balladeering trumpeter Billy Joe Huels is known for his charismatic stage presence. Joining Huels on stage are Jerry Battista on lead guitar, Kelly Van Camp on drums as well as harmonica and Robin Cady on upright bass.

Seattle Weekly readers named The Dusty 45s “Best of Seattle” three years in a row, but they’ve steadily built their fan base at festivals and roadhouses around the country, including eight appearances at Bumbershoot and as support with Wanda Jackson on Adele’s “21” tour in 2011.

In 2015 they were featured on the Cayamo Music Cruise, alongside top artists Lyle Lovett, John Prine, Lucinda Williams, Kacey Musgraves and Brandi Carlisle.

Last summer, the band starred as the Rydell High School Band in “Grease” at Seattle’s renowned 5th Avenue Theatre. This marked a return to the 5th Avenue stage for Huels, who starred as Buddy Holly, and Van Camp, who played The Big Bopper, in the theatre’s acclaimed production of “The Buddy Holly Story.”

The band’s 2014 live album, “The Dusty 45s: Live and On Fire”, brought the best of the band’s brassy and boppin’ sound to fans worldwide.

Tickets are on sale. The cost is $22 for reserved table seating and $15 for general admission. The show is 21-and-older only.
