The Bainbridge Performing Arts Theatre School’s Spring Send-Off 2018 – a festive, annual showcase bursting with theatrical attractions – is two short plays for the price of one.
Performances will begin with the second- through eighth-grade productions of “Tales from Sherlock Holmes,” and end with an original work devised by Teen Intensive students to showcase their talents at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 7 and Friday, June 8.
Tickets, $10 for adults and $5 for seniors, youth, students, military, and teachers, may be purchased online at www.bainbridgeperformingarts.org, by phone at 206-842-8569 or in person at BPA (200 Madison Ave. North).
Box office hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and one hour prior to each performance.
The game is afoot as two distinct Sherlock Holmes productions tackle five of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s most classic capers involving kings, carbuncles and catalepsy.
Presented by the Teen Intensive workshop, what makes it to the stage is a mystery in and of itself, as the performers busily devise and improvise their way toward a performance that truly reflects the voices of its participants.
BPA Theatre School’s Spring Send-Off will uplift audiences of all ages, said BPA Director of Education Pete Benson.
“These kids are fearless,” Benson said.
“That’s one of the main reasons I love working with young people. They haven’t yet learned to be cautious. They share Holmes ‘love of all that is bizarre and outside the conventions and humdrum routine of daily life.’”
