Recess Monkey will perform in concert at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at Bainbridge Performing Arts.

Recess Monkey is the acclaimed children’s music band from Seattle – three teachers who make kid’s music that grows out of their days in their classrooms. They continue to be praised across the country for singable, danceable songs that parents enjoy as much as their kids. Praised by People, Time and NPR for their pitch-perfect understanding of what gets kids excited, Recess Monkey is known for prolific album output, high-energy live shows and laugh-out-loud funny lyrics that capture the essence of being young.

When he’s not rocking out with Recess Monkey, you can find Drew Holloway (vocals, guitar) teaching elementary school at University Child Development School, singing goofy songs at the kitchen table, or out running somewhere in Seattle.

Jack Forman (bass, vocals) taught for 13 years at University Child Development School before recently becoming a stay-at-home dad. He started music lessons at an early age, bouncing from cello to piano to trombone, before settling into a nine-year membership in Seattle’s Northwest Boychoir.

It was a drum solo during his dad’s progressive rock band rehearsal in the summer of ’75 that sent Korum Bischoff’s mom into labor – and Korum’s been banging on stuff ever since. He spent his first 10 years playing in his dad’s studio in a Sacramento cul-de-sac before moving onto a sailboat and sailing off with the musical Bischoff crew to Bainbridge Island.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children, and may be purchased online at www.bainbridgeperformingarts.org, by phone at 206-842-8569 or in person at BPA, 200 Madison Ave. North.
