Rocker turned award-winning filmmaker Phil Allocco’s debut feature “The Truth About Lies” is coming to Bainbridge Island at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15 for a special screening at the Lynwood Theatre.
He wrote, produced and directed the comedy, which boasts an impressive cast, including Fran Kranz (“The Dark Tower,” “The Cabin in the Woods”); Odette Annable (“Cloverfield,” “Supergirl”); Colleen Camp (“American Hustle”); Miles Fisher (“Superhero Movie”); Chris Diamantopolous (“Wedding Daze,” “Silicon Valley”) and Mary Elizabeth Ellis (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”).
In the film, Gilby Smalls (Kranz) is having a meltdown. He’s just been fired from his job, lost his apartment in a fire and his girlfriend (Ellis) gave him the boot.
Forced to move in with his booze-swilling, man-obsessed mother (Camp) and desperate to turn things around, Gilby weaves an ever-growing web of lies — each one bigger than the next — to impress a beautiful woman (Annable) and finds himself in too deep when the truth proves to be too much to admit and even harder to accept.
