Bainbridge hosts numerous musical and holiday events in December.

Holiday Concert:

“Timeless Christmas Classics” is this year’s musical program by the Bainbridge Chorale which starts at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 and at 3 p.m. Dec. 5 at Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church. Cost: $12 – $18, children under 13 free. For more information, visit www.bainbridgechorale.org.

Esoterics:

The complete Hildegard motets of Frank Ferko will be performed at 3 p.m. Dec. 5 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Tickets: $20 general admission purchased at the door; $18 advanced admission purchased online via PayPal; $15 for students, seniors, un(der)employed and differently abled. IMC Concert:

“A Winter Solstice Celebration,” featuring Hanz Araki and friends is at 8 p.m. Dec. 10 at Island Music Center. The Irish flute sensation joined by awesome singers and instrumentalists. A Bainbridge favorite. Info: www.islandmusic.org.

Bainbridge Youth Orchestra Concert

The Bainbridge Youth Orchestra, formed in 2001 by parents and local teachers, has a new musical director. Elizabeth Stoyanovich comes from a background rich with music education and performance. Educated at the University of Michigan School of Music, she has more than 20 years experience teaching and performing in the public schools K-12 and at the college level. She has directed a number of youth, honors, community and professional orchestras. She played Principal Oboe with the Rainier Symphony Orchestra

Stoyanovich, who lives on Bainbridge Island, has served on various boards supporting music education including the League of American Orchestra Youth Orchestra Division. She is currently Artistic Director of the Saint Cecilia Festival, and is Director of Strings at Whitman Middle School in the Seattle School District.

For its first concert of the season, the Bainbridge Youth Orchestra will play Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto 3 and 5 and other classical favorites at 4 p.m. Dec 12, at Island Church, 9624 Sportsman Club Rd. Admission is free. For more information, visit www.biyo.us.

Holiday Songfest:

Evergreen Singers and SoundWave help celebrate The Season in Song with beautiful Christmas carols, great holiday pops, and many sing-alongs at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 13 in the Bainbridge Commons. Refreshments served afterwards. Cost: Donation.
