Three days.

Nine studios.

Sixty-four artists.

Countless treasures.

The 32nd annual Winter Studio Tour will again return to Bainbridge Friday, Dec. 4 through Sunday, Dec. 6, inviting art lovers, holiday shoppers and curious guests to peruse the works of 64 local artisans in various mediums across nine different locations around the island.

The twice-annual free tour is self-guided and all locations will be open, with the artists on hand to discuss their work, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 and Saturday, Dec. 5 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6.

Live music will be provided by regional musicians and carolers at certain locations as well.

The locations for this year’s tour are: Robert Spangler Studio (8495 NE Oddfellows Road); American Legion Hall (7880 NE Bucklin Hill Road); Filipino-American Hall (7566 NE High School Road); Sylvia Carlton’s Studio (1245 Grow Ave. NW); Waterfront Park Community Center (370 Brien Drive SE); Grange Hall (10340 Madison Ave. NE); Siebert Pottery Studio (9766 NE Valley Road); Hidden Cove Pottery & Tile (7176 NE Hidden Cove Road); and Seabold Hall (14450 Komedal Road NE).

Tour manager Dinah Satterwhite said the tour features high quality hand-crafted artwork, including a wide variety of artistic mediums like pottery, paintings, jewelry, furniture, encaustic, wood, photography and wearables.

A new addition to this tour is Sylvia Carlton’s studio on Grow Avenue, located across from Bainbridge High School.

“The large space above the garage is her painting studio and has a generous collection of her work on display,” Satterwhite said. “In her home, she will have another renowned local oil painter, Sophie Frieda, who creates divine florals on large format canvases with great depth and detail.

“Jewelry expert Mary Edwards will be on hand showcasing an array of designs with semi-precious stones and beads,” she added.

Two additional newcomers to the tour this year will also be at Sylvia’s.

“Jill Darnell designs handbags using vintage fabrics and buttons,” Satterwhite said. “She creates beautiful clutches and coin purses with striking colors and patterns.

“Donna Lee Dowdney incorporates fabrics, paints and surface design techniques to make one-of-a-kind framed landscapes and abstracts,” she added.

Guests more interested in sculpture, Satterwhite said, should visit the Waterfront Park Community Center, where the new tour artist Sharon Feeney will be sharing her graceful stone sculptures.

“Her passion for steatite and alabaster will at once be obvious as she guides her inspirations from nature right out of the stones,” Satterwhite said. “She also loves the challenge and boldness of granite.”

Additional participating artists include Erica Nordfors Applewhite, Eileen Sorg, Laura Kemp, Mark Stearney, Tegan Wallace, Roshelle Barnett, Tim Celeski, Donna Lee Dowdney, Kate Goodman, Evy Olsen Halvorsen, Dawn McNamara, Su Olsen, Cyndy Salisbury, Dorothy Skea, Sydni Sterling, Yoshiko Yamamoto and many more.
