Ageless, timeless collaboration
BSO Director David Upham will share the podium with Bainbridge Youth Orchestra Directors Reid Blickenstaff and George Ramsey on Sunday, as the two groups peform their second annual collaborative program, “A Musical Heritage.” Selections include works by Mussorgsky, Mozart, Haydn and Smetana. In a grand finale, all will fill the stage to perform from Stravinsky’s epic ballet, “The Firebird.” The family-frienly concert is at 3 p.m. April 26 at Bainbridge Performing Arts. There isn’t any better ‘Company’
New work by Bainbridge choreographer Roxanne Foster will appear this weekend in Dance Ensemble Northwest’s “In the Company of Women II,” an evening of classical and contemporary dance at Bainbridge Performing Arts. Other works include “The Rite of Spring,” by company director Michael Falotico, and “Dances for Mary of Burgundy,” a reinterpetation of renaissance dance by Flemish composer Daniel Sternefeld. Masse, O’Donovan: a ‘wail’ of a duo
Aoife O’Donovan and Heather Masse, classmates, collaborators and friends during their school days, went their separate ways for a time – O’Donovan to Crooked Still and Masse to The Wailin’ Jennys. Fast-forward to April 2009; the now nationally recognized folk goddesses have teamed for a West Coast tour that includes a Sunday evening stop on Bainbridge.
