The big windstorm moving through the area is starting to knock down trees.

Grand Avenue was closed at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday due to a fallen tree.

The Bainbridge Island Fire Department reported power lines down on the roadway as well in the 8300 block north of Grand.

The fire department received multiple reports of fallen trees Tuesday morning.

The city of Bainbridge Island is also reporting the closure of NE Lafayette Avenue in the 9400 block.

Strong winds with heavy gusts are being felt across Bainbridge Island, and the rest of Puget Sound, Tuesday and a high wind warning will remain in place until 6 p.m. Nov. 17.

South and southwest winds of 25 to 40 mph, with gusts near 60 mph, are expected.

The National Weather Service in Seattle said the strongest winds will occur from 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. Tuesday.
