Roby King Galleries will feature art by Don Tiller this coming month.
The new exhibit opens with an artist’s reception at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7.
Tiller utilizes bold shapes, bright colors and soft edges to create unique adaptations of landscapes. These aspects give his work a feeling of animation.
“I am intrigued with the imprint left on the landscape when touched by mankind,” Tiller said. “Natural chaos provides interest balanced with geometric repetition.”
The exhibit will continue through Aug. 29.
Also coming during the First Friday Art Walk is the Black and White Art exhibit, on display at Bainbridge Homes Real Estate.
Contributing artists include Kevin Johnson, Susan LeVan, Kris Molesworth, and Thomas Schworer. This event will feature graphite, charcoal, mixed media and photography pieces.
Artist Helene Wilder will also be featured at Roby King Galleries in August.
Wilder’s exhibit includes “imaginary portraits” that are ethereal and thought provoking.
“My work embodies a rare, and fairly solitary spectrum of exceptions.” Wilder said. “They are works that I consider a little beyond the margins of contemporary relevance, for conceptually they are neither solipsist nor expressionist. They are imaginary portraits that assay an imagery that is often unappreciated. For those who look only for the typical portrait may be puzzled or confused by my choice of metaphor. They are my private collection of people.”
Upcoming art events include the Gallery Artists Donation Exhibition at Bainbridge Island Art Museum, Sept. 4 through 26.
A printmaking exhibition will be held from Oct. 2 through 31 (invitational).
Wood block artist Kristina Hagman will join Roby King Galleries in October, with her 36 Views of Mount Rainier. Wood block prints by Hagman are currently available for purchase.
