Many kids love playing with toy trucks. Others notice the special kinds of vehicles at work and wonder what they’re for. The opportunity to see a real-life truck up close? Even better!
Curiosity is a great way to fuel learning, and kids do it naturally: What do those great big trucks have inside them? What’s it like to drive a tractor? From an early age, kids learn to associate fire trucks, police cars and ambulances with our community heroes and look forward to riding on the big yellow school bus when they are old enough.
The most fascinating vehicles on the road are the ones that have special jobs, but how often do kids get to see them up close and personal?

Hands-on fun (and learning too!)
If your kids want to find out what the inside of a fire truck looks like, or if you do (there are lots of big kids out there too!), the Touch a Truck event is rolling out at The Outlet Collection in Auburn on Sept. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This free, family- and kid-friendly event is exactly what it says it is! Kids have the opportunity to get hands-on experience with all of the vehicles that capture their imaginations — it’s a great opportunity for them to safely explore the world around them, satisfying their innate curiosity.
Local heroes and real people!
The Outlet Collection in Auburn showcases the specialized machines and the people that operate them, offering kids a window into the real-life, working vehicles that have jobs to do.
This community-focused, fun event gets kids outside, enjoying themselves and learning all about how the community keeps rolling along.
This year’s participants include an Auburn Valley Regional Fire Department Fire Truck, an Auburn School District school bus, a tow truck from Fircrest Towing, a SWAT vehicle from the Auburn PD, and Natural Resource vans from Green River College to name just a few.
