The Agate Pass Bridge will remain completely open Sunday, Feb. 23, the Washington State Department of Transportation announced Friday.
The bridge has been shut down to one lane during the past week for its annual maintenance and in-depth inspection.
Officials said no work, and no lane closures, will happen on the span Sunday, a day which will also bring hundreds of visitors to Bainbridge Island for the annual Chilly Hilly event.
Work will still occur on Saturday, Feb. 23, and every weekday next week.
Officials also said that traffic delays and backups have been getting longer with each successive day since work began on the bridge.
WSDOT is asking drivers to travel through the area early in the morning or late at night and add plenty of additional travel time to their trips.
Otherwise, travelers can expect 30-minute delays while waiting to cross the bridge.
