American flag stolen outside of county courthouse

Anyone wondering why an American flag went missing from the flagpole at the Kitsap County Superior Court July 20 may have at least part of their answer thanks to some recently published security footage.

Footage captured by nearby security cameras, which was shared on July 23 by the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office, shows a male suspect outside the courthouse located in Port Orchard at around 6:45 a.m. After briefly looking inside the courthouse, the suspect is seen allegedly lowering and removing the American flag, leaving the state flag of Washington and the POW/MIA flag lowered as he walks away.

The suspect allegedly drove off in an older model green Dodge Dakota. Police note the presence of a toolbox in the truck’s bed.
