American Marine Bank in Central Market robbed at gunpoint Thursday

An armed, masked man and an accomplice robbed American Marine Bank, located in Central Market on State Route 305, at 5:21 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

According to Robbie Burroughs, a spokesperson for the FBI in Seattle, two men in a white pickup truck pulled up to Central Market’s loading dock. The driver got out of the truck and pulled a ski mask over his face. He went inside Central Market and pointed the weapon at a customer.

He then entered the American Marine Bank branch and ordered those inside the bank to get on the ground.

There were no reported injuries.

Poulsbo police are searching for the man, said to be white, in his early 20s, about 5-feet, 8 inches tall, and his accomplice. His accomplice stayed in the vehicle during the robbery. The FBI is assisting in the investigation.

American Marine Bank was the third Poulsbo bank to be robbed in the last two months. On April 13, the Kitsap Credit Union on State Route 305 was robbed by a man wearing a pants suit. A man wearing a cowboy hat robbed Westsound Bank on Viking Avenue April 7. He was later arrested.

Neither robbery involved weapons.

Assistant Poulsbo Police Chief Shawn Delaney said the number of bank robberies is an uncommon trend and “it is of great concern.”
