On Tuesday, the Kitsap Public Health District confirmed five more COVID-related deaths, bringing the countywide total to 306 since the pandemic began in March of 2020.
Details on the eight most-recent deaths have not yet been provided. Of the previous 298 deaths, 116 were ages 80 and older, 72 ages 70-79, 59 ages 60-69, 34 ages 50-59, 13 ages 40-49 and four ages 30-39.
Additionally, 112 new COVID cases were also confirmed, bringing the countywide total to 37,450 since the pandemic began. Of the new cases, North Kitsap had 23, and Bainbridge Island four; 21 were in South Kitsap, 31 in Bremerton; and 31 in Central Kitsap. Two of the cases came from “unknown” areas of the county.
Over the last week, the county’s case rate per 100,000 residents has dropped dramatically to 338.4. To date, the number of Kitsap County residents who have initiated vaccination is 76.3%.
Of the 37,450 cases, 1,734 have been reported on Bainbridge Island, 9,981 in Bremerton, 8,647 in Central Kitsap, 5,609 in North Kitsap and 11,317 in South Kitsap. 162 cases have come from “unknown” areas of the county.
