Applications for senior nutrition program now available

There is exciting news for older adults in the area as Kitsap County, in partnership with Meals on Wheels Kitsap, is accepting applications for the 2024 Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.

About 200 cards remain available. Eligible adults will receive an $80 gift card to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at several local farmers markets, a county news release states. Purchases can be made through Oct. 31.

With the goal of making wholesome foods more accessible, the program is open to Kitsap seniors: age 60 or older (or over 55 if Native American or Alaska Native); Household income must be below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level. (That translates to $27,861 annual income for one person; $37,814 for two; and add $829 per month for each additional person.)
