North Point Church and Peninsula Community Health Services have partnered to host a free back-to-school vaccination event on Saturday.
The event will begin at 11 a.m. and go until 1 p.m. at North Point Church on Hostmark Street in Poulsbo.
COVID-19 vaccines will be available for students age 12 and older, regardless of a family’s ability to pay or insurance. Additionally, free supplies for school and ice cream will be given out while supplies last.
“It is highly recommended that students 12 years old and older be fully vaccinated before school starts in the fall; kids who receive their first vaccination on Saturday will be able to receive their second before schools start in the North Kitsap area,” Housing, Health and Human Services director Kim Henderickson said.
Students under age 18 will need to have a parent or guardian with them or authorization from a parent or guardian to receive the vaccine.
The event will have the Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines available: Pfizer, for students under age 18, and Johnson & Johnson for students age 18 and older.
Another event will be held Aug. 28 for students to get their second round of vaccinations and for students age 18 and older getting either their first or second round of shots.
