Bainbridge announces members of city utility task force

The city of Bainbridge Island's task force that will study the possibility of establishing a city-run electric company will have its first meeting Friday.

The city of Bainbridge Island’s task force that will study the possibility of establishing a city-run electric company will have its first meeting Friday.

City Manager Doug Schulze announced at Tuesday’s council meeting that he had selected the members of the task force.

Originally, Schulze expected to create a task force of eight to 10 members of the community.

With 22 people expressing interest in serving on the task force, however, the group was expanded to 16 community members.

The task force members are:

Richard Beam, the director of energy management services for Providence Health & Services and former board member for the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance;

Dale Perry, a global commercial deal director for the alternative fuels division of Celanese Corp., a U.S.-based chemicals company;

David E. Schutz, president and founding partner of Hoffman Schutz Media Capital, an investment banking company;

Eric Moe, a senior developer with University Mechanical Contractors;

Garry Sobeck, a retiree who last worked as division chief for the San Diego County Assessor’s Office;

John H. Cunningham, a former lineman for Puget Sound Energy who is now an assistant business manager for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 77, and recently negotiated a collective bargaining agreement with Jefferson County PUD;

Kris Kutchera, an IT executive who is a board member and secretary at the Technology Access Foundation, and was a founding board member of the University of Washington Information School;

Leonard Korslund, a former line worker who retired after 32 years at Seattle City Light;

Lori J. Pastucha; formerly the enterprise administration services manager for the city of Anaheim Public Utilities Department;

Marc Zocher, a program manager at BayForge and a project management professional who has 30 years of experience managing energy, engineering, environmental, nuclear and IT projects;

Phil Rockefeller, a former state senator and the current chairman of the Northwest Power & Conservation Council;

Ross Eide, a Seattle-based attorney;

Ted Jones, a facilities management product line coordinator for Naval Facilities Engineering Command Northwest at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor;

Terence Mundorf, a public utility lawyer and former Mukilteo city councilman;

Theodore Otis, CFO/VP of finance and economic analysis for Blackfoot Telecommunications Group; and

Winifred Perkins, manager of environmental services for NextEra Energy Resources and former manager of environmental relations for Florida Power & Light Company.

The task force will hold its first meeting at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22 at city hall. The meeting is open to the public.
