SUNDAY, AUG. 30
11 a.m. An 86-year-old Bainbridge woman in a 1996 Toyota tried to park next to a 2003 Mercedes Benz on Wyatt Way near Madison Avenue when she struck the rear of a parked vehicle.
Police contacted the driver when she returned from her hair appointment and the vehicle owners exchanged insurance information.
12:47 p.m. Outgoing mail was stolen from a mailbox on Aaron Avenue.
A person walking by found the mail in the gutter and all the envelopes had been opened. One check was missing.
4:09 p.m. Bainbridge units were called for a water rescue after a kayaker had been knocked out of his boat by a wave and was in the ferry lane off of Rockaway Beach.
Two other kayakers still in their boats were with the man.
Police responded in Marine 8 and found the boaters off of Rockaway Beach. The man was pulled into the boat; he was very cold and wet but had a life jacket on.
