Thursday, June 4

8:20 a.m. A Weight Watchers organizer arrived at the Fillipino American Community Hall on High School Road and called about a possible burglary.

She had arrived at the hall five minutes earlier and found broken glass on the floor from a shattered window.

Police found a wheelbarrow outside the window, a long-handled dustpan and broom and sheets.

It appeared the suspect broke out the window with the broom or dustpan and used the wheelbarrow to climb in.

Police also found blood, and figured the intruded got cut on the way in. Bleach had been used to clean up the mess.

Nothing appeared to be missing from the hall.

Wednesday, June 3

3:35 p.m. A 65-year-old Seaside, Oregon man called police and said he had ordered a modified kayak from a Bainbridge company. He had put down $2,750 as deposit for the boat in March, but the owners of the company had not returned his phone calls or his money.

The owner later called police and said a cashier’s check had been put in the mail.

9:18 p.m. A vehicle was reported in the ditch near Kallgren Road NE and NE Valley Road.

Police arrived to find a woman on Kallgren Road talking on her cellphone. She said her boyfriend was driving and had walked home after going into the ditch, and he was very shook up from the accident.

Police went to the home of the man, 56, and he said he was driving a little too fast.

The man smelled strongly of alcohol and his speech was slurred.

He admitted drinking “a little bit,” and then, “a bit too much.”

The man was arrested for DUI. He had breath tests had samples of .181 and .186.

The man said he had an alcohol problem and that sometimes, “you need something to happen to open your eyes.” He then said his eyes had been opened and he realized he needed help.

The man was booked into jail and bail was set at $5,000.

Sunday, May 31

6 p.m. A woman said her 2012 Kia Soul was damaged while it was parked in the T&C lot.

Police found damage to the rear driver’s side quarter panel; scrape marks and missing paint.
