4:43 p.m. An 18-year-old Bainbridge Island man driving a 1993 Toyota Camry lost control of the car and drove off the road while traveling along Agate Pass Road near a sharp turn in the area of Sanwick Place.
He drifted off the road and struck a sign before rolling onto the driver’s side and coming to a stop in a roadside ditch.
There were no injuries.
The man had been distracted by a wireless device, police said, and “drifting to sleep.” He failed to observe the car begin to drift.

5:30 p.m. A man reported he was the victim of a hit-and-run at the Manor House.
The man had parked his 1999 Lexus RX in the back parking lot of the building and was inside for approximately two hours, he said. Returning, he found his car had been struck in the rear driver’s side bumper. No note was left at the scene and the establishment had no video of the incident.
Repairs of the damages were estimated at $1,143.58.

4:15 p.m. A 73-year-old Bainbridge Island woman had her purse stolen out of her cart at Safeway.
Police said the woman was very distraught and hard to get information from. She had been shopping, she said, with her purse in her cart and at some point during her time in the store it had been taken when she was not looking.
The woman had previously made purchases at a nearby drug store and, when police inquired, a cashier there confirmed she’d had her purse at the time she left there.
There was no video of the theft on the store’s security cameras.
Monday, Dec. 19
4:50 p.m. A 61-year-old Bainbridge Island woman driving a 2006 Subaru Legacy veered off the road and collided into the trees in the area between Madison Avenue and High School Road.
She apparently lost control of the vehicle, police found, after possibly suffering a blackout. An EMS interview with the woman found that she did have a history of seizures, which may have caused her to lose control of the car.
Initial reports described the woman as unconscious, but police found her awake, though she was “incoherent” at first.
She recovered by the time she was in the ambulance enough to answer questions, and said she’d been on her way to get a haircut.
