Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter:

Tuesday, Dec. 16

7:50 a.m. A 67-year-old man was driving a 1997 Jeep Wrangler west on NE New Brooklyn Road when a deer entered the roadway from the north and was hit and injured by the Jeep’s front fender.

An officer found the deer in a ditch and dispatched the animal with one shot from a patrol rifle.

Monday, Dec. 15

4:16 p.m. A 24-year-old Poulsbo man reported a possibly stolen cell phone and met an officer in a parking lot on High School Road to talk about the missing phone.

He said he thought it dropped out of his pocket in a taxi cab after he was dropped off between 11 and 11:59 p.m. the night before at the Safeway grocery.

He said he called the taxi company but they could not find it, so he now believes the taxi driver stole the phone.

Wednesday, Dec. 10

9:01 a.m. A loose fiberglass dinghy was found off the beach in the 9900 block of Manitou Beach Drive. An officer helped bring it on shore and found the address of a Falk Road man on the boat.

When the owner came to retrieve it, he found the boat was gone. Police said it may have been moved by someone because of the windstorm.
