MONDAY, MAY 9

11:40 a.m. Police responded to reports of a burglary at a storage unit near Zanshin Lane NE. Someone had cut the lock to gain access and took three chainsaws belonging to Coyote Woodshod from inside.

SUNDAY, MAY 8

7:22 p.m. A 45-year-old Bainbridge Island man driving a 2016 Kia Sorento stopped at Highway 305 and High School Road when he was struck from behind by a 2006 Chevy Cobalt, driven by a young girl.

He signaled for her to follow him, as he pulled onto High School Road and into the parking lot of the Chevron gas station. The girl followed at first, but then continued west on High School Road when he pulled in. He tried to follow her, but could not locate the vehicle again.

Only minor damage was done to the car.

A search of nearby parking lots by police failed to locate the runaway driver, though a tip received hours later did lead them to a suspect who confessed to being the hit-and-run driver; a 16-year-old girl with no license. She said she had been driving the car without permission.
