Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.
TUESDAY, SEPT. 2
8:53 a.m. A 31-year-old Binnon, Washington man reported his car had been stolen while on Bainbridge Island.
The man said he’d been assaulted by his father, who promptly stole his car and left him stranded on the side of Highway 305 the night before.
He’d been picking his father up at the ferry terminal, he explained, and was driving north when his father asked him to hand over some prescription medication, which the man would not do. His father became angry, he said, and when he’d pulled over to argue about it, his father put him in a headlock and started punching him in the face.
The man did indeed have a recent-looking black eye, bruising on his arms and a bloody knee, though in clarifying the details for police, the man’s story kept changing as to the exact location of the altercation. Sometimes he said Bainbridge, other times, Poulsbo.
When asked about the inconsistencies, the man told police he had short-term memory problems and could not remember the exact location of the assault.
As the man had already filed a report with the Poulsbo police, Bainbridge officers also filed a stolen vehicle report and broadcast a description of the car.
