Saturday, Sept. 13

12:24 p.m. A resident was walking his dog along High School Road toward Safeway when he passed by another man heading toward the library.

The man tripped on an uneven portion of the path and fell toward the dog walker. The dog was startled and bit the man in the calf.

The man saw medics at the Bainbridge Island Fire Department and was told he would have to see a physician.

The man demanded that the dog walker pay the $300 to $500 deductible it would cost to see a doctor. The dog walker, however, told the man he would ask his attorney.

12:52 p.m. A resident became upset after she found the fence to one side of her property was being removed.

When she approached the neighbor who was doing the work, though, he started yelling and became belligerent.

Officers were called to try to keep the peace in the land dispute, and made contact with the one of the neighbors involved in removing the fence. When she was told why police were there, she proceeded to fake passing out. The woman lay on the ground for a few seconds but got up after officers asked if she needed an ambulance.

The neighbor who had yelled at the resident over the fence then came out of the house to speak to police. He said a survey was done a few years ago, and the fence was on his property by one foot. He also said he planned on replacing the wooden fence with new 2×4 plywood.

Officers determined the situation was a civil matter.
