11:11 a.m. A woman reported that her jewelry was stolen from her daughter’s residence on Parfitt Way. She suspected that the jewelry could have been taken by a housekeeper who could have been working for her daughter. The housekeeper was recently in trouble with police for jewelry theft.
2:01 p.m. A woman living on Grand Avenue had placed a Jay Inslee sign in front of her home with a note that said, “Please do not uproot my sign.” The sign was then removed and replaced by two Rob McKenna signs.
7:18 p.m. Someone attempted to scam the owners of a Thai restaurant in Winslow over the phone. The caller claimed that the power bill had not been paid and demanded personal information such as Social Security numbers, birth dates and ID numbers for both owners. The caller obtained personal information but the restaurant owners grew suspicious and refused to provide any more information. Police confirmed that the power bill was paid and that Puget Sound Energy was not involved with the calls.

2:51 p.m. An islander said her debit card number was stolen and that three charges were made totaling $56.81.
Saturday, Oct. 27
12:34 p.m. A 13-year-old boy on Alder Street reported that two men attempted to break into his home. His mother was out of the house when two men parked in the driveway and tried to open the front door, but it was locked. They sounded angry that they couldn’t get in, according to the boy. They left but returned shortly and tried to get inside from the back porch, but that door was also locked. The boy gave police a description of both men and their car.
6:11 p.m. A resident on Falk Road reported that a fan belt was stolen from his truck. He suspected a man with a similar truck of taking the belt. The suspect admitted to taking the belt but said he would pay for it. The thief returned from a heroin treatment center only to steal an oil gauge from the same truck, but called first this time and asked for permission. His request was denied but he took the gauge anyway. The thief was advised that he is no longer allowed on the property.
Sunday, Oct. 28
7:32 a.m. A resident reported that his boat was stolen. It had been moored to a buoy off his property on Agate Street. It was discovered that the boat and buoy were blown away by severe winds.
Monday, Oct. 29
9:23 a.m. A man on Douglas Drive reported that his bicycle was stolen from a rack on his car. It was not locked. The bike was valued at $400.
9:53 a.m. Someone attempted to scam a local Mary Kay agent. A customer in Pennsylvania overpaid for cosmetics by $1,871. When confronted with the overpayment, the customer asked that the money be wired to a third party in Georgia.
5:50 p.m. A woman was arrested for malicious mischief after she began kicking and breaking items at her father’s house. An argument arose between the two about a prescription. She needed $60 for the prescription, and her father gave her $100. She then began her destructive behavior, to her father’s bewilderment. She claimed that at one point that her father tried to choke her, but then her story changed and police could not find any physical evidence of violence.
