9:30 a.m. A man and a woman said their wallets had been stolen from a home on Meadowmeer Circle.
The couple said their wallets and a pocket knife may have been stolen when they visited friends the previous evening and left the items in their unlocked home. The man didn’t think anyone came inside while they were sleeping because one of their dogs would have barked.
Later that day, the man reported that he had found his wallet and pocket knife inside their puppy’s crate. The wallet had been placed on top of a towel near the animal’s crate and he said the puppy probably took the towel and the wallet into the crate to chew on.
The woman also called later to notify police that she too had found her wallet. She had forgotten that she had put it in a different purse.
10:11 p.m. A man reported that his wallet was missing while staying at his friend’s residence on Madison Avenue. A second man was also temporarily staying at the residence and was moving the first man’s possessions across the room. The man reported that the other man didn’t seem too sympathetic about his missing wallet and further noted that he was about “7 percent sure” that he might have stolen it.
The wallet held $27 in cash, $60 in food stamps, an ID card and various gift cards.
Friday, March 9
10:35 a.m. A construction worker fell while working at a construction site on Bluff Street. The worker was lifting a truss into place while standing on wood planks 18 feet above the ground. The wood planks slipped out of place and the worker fell, hitting his head. He was unconscious for a few minutes. When police arrived, he was alert and speaking. Paramedics arrived and gave aid to the worker.
9:41 p.m. Police attempted to intercept a vehicle after observing a driver who failed to signal for a turn and had drifted in and out of his lane. The driver was also speeding.
Police turned on their emergency lights to pull the car over but it continued on until it eventually pulled into a residence near Toe Jam Hill road. Police pulled into the driveway of the residence and observed a young man exiting the vehicle. Police attempted to approach the driver and ordered him to stop, but the young man quickly went into the garage and disappeared inside. While following close behind, police noticed the smell of alcohol but didn’t follow the young man inside the residence.
A woman soon came outside and identified the driver. She said he wasn’t supposed to be driving because of a previous DUI.
Police made arrangements to tow the vehicle and impound it. By this time the driver’s father went to retrieve him but the young man had gone to sleep and refused to come out. Police then went inside and arrested the driver.
The young man later told police he was a binge drinker but he had been doing better with alcohol since his last DUI. He refused to take a breath test and was booked into jail on $10,000 bail.
Saturday, March 10
11:07 p.m. A man reported that the roof of his Volkswagen convertible had been slashed while parked on Lynwood Center Road. Someone made two 10-inch-long incisions above the drivers seat. The damage was estimated at $400.
Sunday, March 11
10:22 p.m. Police ran the license plate of vehicle while it was parked in the Safeway parking lot and discovered it was registered to a driver with a suspended license. Police followed the driver to the Chevron on Hildebrand Lane and gave the driver a citation.
