Friday, July 26
12:43 p.m. Eagle Harbor Congregational Church reported that two doors were damaged. One door was “shouldered in” and a handle was pulled off the other. Officers noted that they were dispatched to the area recently after someone heard breaking glass.
Sunday, July 28
8:14 a.m. A South Island man reported a disturbing message sent to his website’s contact page. The message stated, “How much of the U.S. would 1kg. of plutonium blow up?” It also attached a link for a weight-loss product. The commenter listed a phony email and phone number with the comment. Police referred the caller to the FBI.
9:25 a.m. An intoxicated man argued with employees at Rite Aid on High School Road when they refused to sell him beer. The man had no money and was asking employees to give him the money for the beer. He briefly left, then returned with money, but the employees still wouldn’t sell him the beer because he was so intoxicated. The man was given a no-trespass order and told to stay away for one year.
11:05 a.m. A north end family was having an intervention for an alcoholic family member. A paid interventionist was present. The family member became angry and denied that she had any problems. At one point she pushed her father to the ground. When police arrived, the woman was laughing at the whole situation, and her breath smelled of alcohol. The parents told officers that their daughter has assaulted them in the past when they confront her about her drinking. The woman was arrested for assault.
