Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.
MONDAY, JULY 18
3:54 p.m. A 69-year-old Bainbridge Island woman left her purse in a cart she was returning after loading her groceries into her car at Safeway.
On the way home, after realizing she’d left her purse, the woman returned but could not find it. Store employees said nobody had turned in a purse either, so she called police.
The woman immediately canceled her credit and debit cards.
6:23 p.m. Police were contacted by a father and son who, when driving westbound on Wyatt Way, said they were attacked by a pedestrian.
The father said his son’s diesel truck blew exhaust toward the man, who then flashed the truck two middle fingers before running toward it as it was stopped for construction at the Eagle Harbor intersection.
The father, in a vehicle just behind the truck, said the pedestrian smacked the side of his son’s truck. Though there was no visible damage, the father said he could feel dents there — though he admitted he was more concerned about the man’s behavior than any actual damage.
Police advised the duo to contact them if they should see the angry pedestrian again.
