MONDAY, JUNE 11
9:12 p.m. A 49-year-old Bainbridge Island woman called the police to report a trespasser on her property.
The woman claimed her neighbor had mowed 6-12 inches of her lawn while cutting his own. The woman said her neighbor had come onto her property before, and she had called the police then as well and was instructed to report it if the man should do so again.
She repeatedly told police she “had family” in law enforcement, which police interpreted as her attempting to gain favor with them.
They told her that the occupation of her relations is not relevant to her complaint.
Upon examination, police found a “very professional” mow line that did not appear to deviate onto the woman’s property. There were at least 1-2 feet of uncut grass between the line where the neighbor stopped and the numerous “no trespassing” signs in the woman’s yard facing his house.
When asked, the man said he thought the woman was trying to bait him into a confrontation and admitted they had past disagreements.
Police said there was no evidence the man had been trespassing and that such a violation, should it occur in the future, would be a civil matter.
A report was filed.
