Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter:

Thursday, Aug. 28

10:01 a.m. Police were called on a report of criminal trespassing at a Knetchel Road construction site.

The property manager arrived at the building that is under construction in the morning to find a man sleeping in a crawl space.

When the manager walked in on him, the man immediately got up, grabbed a blue backpack and started to leave. The manager told the man as he was leaving not to come back, to which the man replied, “Sorry.” It was the fourth time the manager or other construction crew members had found the man sleeping in the building.

Officers found the man left behind a bottle filled with urine and a pillow that had been taken from the lobby couch.

During a nighttime patrol check, officers found the man at 2:13 a.m. again sleeping inside the building and in possession of methamphetamine. In a photo line-up, the property manager positively identified the man as the one sleeping in the building.

The resident told police that after he provided his personal information over the Internet, his “spidey sense” began tingling.

The Craigslist posting was removed soon after the resident completed the application process. He is concerned that he is vulnerable to identity theft.
