2:44 p.m. Four French tourists were riding rental bikes south on Madison Avenue when one of the tourists braked too abruptly.
The tourist was riding too fast and used the front brake to slow down.
When he did so, he was launched off the bike and onto the pavement. Bainbridge Island Fire Department EMTs responded to the incident and confirmed that the cyclist had sustained a serious shoulder injury. He had torn shoulder ligaments and a fractured collarbone.
He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment
