Monday, July 29

2:16 p.m. A resident on Pleasant Beach Drive reported damage to his classic car. The car is parked in a garage and only comes out on special occasions. The garage door was left open the previous day as the man tended to a personal emergency. When he returned, the car’s roof was dented in three places. The damage was estimated at $1,500.

Monday, July 29

3:16 p.m. A sign at the Winslow Post Office for the Japanese Exclusion Memorial was vandalized. The word “INTERNMENT” was glued over the word “concentration.” The damage was too severe to repair. The entire display will have to be replaced.

Tuesday, July 30

9:50 a.m. Someone burned portions of the kiosk at the city dock. A small piece of plastic that was hanging from the roof was melted. A piece of paper posted on the side of the building was also burned, and the plastic pins holding it up were melted.

Thursday, Aug. 1

12:37 p.m. A Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office deputy requested island back-up after pulling over a car with a raging driver on Madison Avenue and Highway 305. The deputy witnessed the driver stop his car in the middle of the road, jump out and run after an SUV. The driver said he was mad because of the SUV’s speed. The driver aggressively complained  to the deputy about how police officers drive. Officers discovered that the man has a record of aggressive behavior and prior road rage incidents. Officers told the man he could not leave his car in the middle of the roadway. The man calmed down and agreed to call police in the future.

2:05 p.m. A three-person, 14-foot kayak was stolen from a home on Pleasant Beach Drive.
