Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter:

Sunday, Aug. 3

8:59 p.m. A sunken boat was found by a Bainbridge citizen half submerged in the water just outside his home.

The boat belonged to his neighbor. It was unclear as to how the boat was taking on water.

The owner of the boat was out of town at the time of the incident and could not be reached. The Bainbridge Island Fire Department contacted the Coast Guard.

Monday, Aug. 4

11:11 a.m. A resident received a harassing phone call from a blocked phone number. At around 2:27 a.m. her cell phone rang and woke her up.

The caller ID showed it was from a blocked number, so the resident did not answer.

The caller left a voicemail, though, in which he threatened, “I’m coming to Seattle to kill you. I see you right now.”

The voice sounded to be that of a man, possibly a young adult or teenager. It was breathy and the caller sounded like he was trying to whisper.

The resident told police she did not know anyone who would leave such a message and did not recognize the voice. It scared her and she said that she hadn’t been able to sleep for two days.

4:21 p.m. A resident has received several anonymous letters by mail that contain threatening quotes from the Bible.

In one letter, the writer quoted, “but thou shalt surely kill him” and then indicated that the writer will see the resident “up in Seattle next week. You won’t see me.” The letter was signed “God’s Little Helper.”

The envelope was postmarked Aug. 1 from an Olympia-Tacoma mail service, but contained no return address.

The resident told police he is a writer and covers topics about religion. He said that he has received other similar letters, but none with such specific references about killing and meeting.
