Bethany Lutheran Church of Bainbridge Island is hosting a presentation, “Faith Community Considers I-594,” from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9 and the public is invited.
Initiative 594, if passed by voters this November, would require criminal background checks on all gun sales in Washington, including those purchased online or at gun shows.
The speakers will be 23rd District Representative Drew Hansen of Bainbridge Island, and Faith Action Network co-director Rev. Paul Benz. Faith Action Network (www.fanwa.org) is an interfaith coalition of faith groups which “identifies and gives voice to issues affecting our communities.”
After speaker presentations, questions will be answered. Refreshments will follow the program.
The presentation is co-sponsored by Eagle Harbor United Church of Christ. Bethany Lutheran is located at High School and Sportsman’s Club roads.
