Last week the Bainbridge Island City Council waded through the issue of pawning off management of its water utility to an outside party. This week it will dive right back in.
City Manager Doug Schulze was charged with developing a picture of what the city would look like if the water utility was contracted to an outside party such as the Kitsap Public Utility District. The district is favored by the city’s volunteer Utility Advisory Committee.
Schulze will report his findings to the council at its meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13.
The change to an outside manager is expected to have budget and staffing impacts.
Schulze has been attending a conference for city leaders in Olympia all week but will return for the council’s Wednesday meeting.
The council will also discuss and take action on proposed community service agreements with island nonprofits, including Bainbridge Youth Services, Helpline House and the Housing Resources Board.
