The Bainbridge Island City Council unanimously approved a public works contract that will smooth out another one of the city’s bumpy roads.

Interim Public Works Director John Cunningham proposed a contract Wednesday with Lakeside Industries, Inc. to resurface the asphalt at the Bucklin Hill Road and Eagle Harbor Drive intersection.

The project is part of the Annual Roads Preservation program, which was brought up at a study session with the council March 20.

Since approved, Lakeside Industries will be overlaying the intersection, patching up potholes and grinding off particularly shabby spots of old asphalt.

“Know that bikers will be excited to have this intersection repaired,” Councilwoman Debbi Lester told Cunningham at the meeting.

The city agreed to move forward with the contract that agrees to pay Lakeside Industries $48,305 to improve the intersection.

Cunningham estimated that the project would be a two to three day paving job and construction would begin in either late September or early October.
