“Hopes, fears and vision.”
That’s what Bainbridge Island Mayor Val Tollefson hopes islanders will share at the upcoming ward meetings.
City council members will host their annual ward meetings over the next three Saturdays, with the first planned for Saturday, April 1.
“I look forward to this opportunity every year to speak directly with the community members that I serve,” Tollefson said in a message to islanders. “I hope that you will be able to attend, and willing to share your hopes, fears and vision for the future of Bainbridge Island with your elected representatives.”
City officials said the council ward meetings are an opportunity for Bainbridge residents to meet with their elected officials to talk about issues in their neighborhoods and the broader community.
Ward meetings are intended to be a less formal setting than a city council meeting, officials said, and will allow for more of a conversation between community members and council members.
Tollefson will join with two of his council colleagues — Councilman Kol Medina and Deputy Mayor Ron Peltier — at the North Ward meeting, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 1 at Seabold Hall (14450 Komedal Road NE).
The Central Ward meeting will follow on Saturday, April 8 at city hall with
Councilman Mike Scott, Councilman Wayne Roth and Peltier.
That ward meeting is also planned for 10 a.m. to noon.
The third meeting, for the South Ward, is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15 at the Treehouse Café (4569 Lynwood Center Rd NE).
That gathering will be hosted by Councilwoman Sarah Blossom, Councilman Roger Townsend and Peltier.
