SEATTLE – Jordan Wagner threw for two touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough as the Bainbridge football team was eliminated from the playoff hunt with a 20-18 loss to Bishop Blanchet.

The Braves got on the board first with a touchdown pass and a two-point conversion.

Colin Feldtman kicked a 32-yard field goal in the second quarter, but Vinny Papasedero scored from six yards out to put the Braves up 14-3.

Bainbridge got some momentum back when Austin Reifeis picked off a pass to end a Blanchet drive.

Wagner made them pay with a pass to tight end Mike Walsh, who turned it into a big gain down to the six.

Two plays later, Wagner completed a pass to running back Dayton Gilbreath for the score.

On the Braves’ first drive in the second half, they committed numerous penalties and quarterback Spencer Marquis threw another pick when defensive back Steffen Dacquisto picked off a pass by taking it away from running back John Gats.

After another unsportsmanlike conduct penalty by the Braves, running back Mario McLaughlin found a seam in the zone and hauled in a great pass from Wagner for the 34-yard score, but the two-point conversion failed.

Feldtman kicked a 33-yard field goal at the start of the fourth quarter, but Papasedero scored from four yards out to put the Braves back on top.

The Spartans had their chances, but a Wagner interception and a turnover on downs on their next two drives ended any hope they had.

Bainbridge plays a Metro crossover game next Friday, then take on a Kingco 3A division opponent the following week.
