Bainbridge fire commissioners have finalized two new contracts for the employees of the Bainbridge Island Fire Department.
Both bargaining agreements are for three-year terms and run through Dec. 31, 2017.
Bainbridge fire commissioners approved the agreement with the International Association of Firefighters Local 4034 at their meeting late last week.
The agreement with the union covers two employees, an executive assistant and the department’s mechanic, and includes a 2 percent pay increase that was based on comparable wages in other departments, said Bainbridge Fire Chief Hank Teran.
The board approved the contract on a 4-0 vote; Commissioner Dan Morrow abstained from the vote because he had not been involved in all of the board discussions on the labor agreement.
That approval followed the board’s OK of a new agreement with IAFF Local 4034 that was made at a special commissioners’ meeting in late December.
At that meeting, the board approved a labor agreement with IAFF Local 4034 firefighters on a 4-0 vote. (Morrow did not attend the meeting.)
That contract covers 29 uniformed members of the department. The new agreement includes a 1 percent increase in pay.
