Puget Sound Energy opened its Kitsap Storm Base in Poulsbo just after 12:30 p.m. Thursday after strong winds continued to whip across Bainbridge Island and the Kitsap Peninsula.
Patricia McClements of Puget Sound Energy reported that most of the heaviest damage was on Bainbridge Island. Two circuits, she noted, were impacted by a tree that broke a power pole directly outside the Winslow 12 Substation.
PSE was able to get the lights back on for 1,300 customers through switching operations.
Roughly 2,400 customers were still without power, McClements reported just before 3:30 p.m.
PSE expects to restore power by late Thursday afternoon, though some customers will remain without electricity until the damaged pole has been replaced and the damage repaired Thursday night.
