Wednesday, March 21

3:04 p.m. Police responded to an argument between family members staying at a local hotel.

The mother had come to her daughter’s hotel room to take the daughter’s car keys. The daughter was intoxicated and responded by pushing her mother out of the hotel room. The mother grabbed the daughter’s box of wine when she was pushed.

Police contacted the daughter inside her hotel room. She was in bed with another box of wine. She admitted that she had a drinking problem.

When police returned to the mother they advised her that since it was her daughter’s room, she had to leave if she was asked. She was also told she could not take items, such as boxes of wine, with her. Police empathized with the mother’s situation, but said that in this case she was required to respect her daughter’s wishes.

Thursday, March 22

8:17 a.m. Police found an abandoned truck on Eisenhardt Lane. The vehicle had been previously reported stolen from owners on the island.

When police found the truck it was repainted black. A screwdriver was jammed into the ignition switch and was being used to start the vehicle. Various used syringes were also found throughout the cab.

The license plates on the truck were changed out and substituted with ones from another vehicle on Bainbridge Island. Police contacted the owner of the license plates. The owner was unaware that his plates were stolen, but did find it odd when he recently received a ticket for a truck that was not his, but with his plates, that drove over the Tacoma Narrows Bridge without paying the toll.

Police removed the plates for evidence.
