Bike mural

A new bike corral is coming to Winslow Way sometime in 2025, and Bainbridge Islanders can decide what it looks like.

Engage Bainbridge, in partnership with the city, has issued a public survey asking residents to choose a design for the mural that will adorn the roadway in front of the new downtown bike parking structure. Both choices, “Bainbridge Mosaic” and “Woods and Fields,” feature natural and cultural elements of BI.

The corral is part of a pilot program meant to increase bike parking downtown. While its precise location is still under discussion, it will be in a centralized area and may fit about 10 bikes, city officials said.

Youth forum

The Kitsap County Commission on Children & Youth and the Kitsap Public Health District are co-hosting a forum so youth can freely talk about concerns, ideas and issues that matter to them with community leaders who create and approve policies.

The event is Oct. 15 at the 2024 Kitsap Youth Forum at the Norm Dicks Government Center; 345 6th St. in Bremerton from 4:30-7 p.m.

Youth offerings of new perspectives will contribute to the creation of laws, rules and regulations for the future. The event is free and open to everyone.

Youth will have the opportunity to ask local elected officials questions as well as answer their questions.
